Good Times

I love good times. Last week was full of them. Tuesday I got to go to Tyrol Basin for unlimited skiing, food, and drinks for FREE! Thanks to Ken being in vet school… Hills Science Diet paid for all third year vet students and their guests to enjoy a fun evening. I finally got the balls to take a skiing lesson, and had a blast! Oh my gosh skiing is so much fun. I even went down a black diamond without falling! I also got to watch how amazing of a skier Ken is. But now I have to wait until the snow falls again to enjoy my new sport. Oh well… that means it’s almost time for log rolling!

I guess the rest of the week wasn’t super exciting, just really busy at work. But it sure did fly by! Saturday Ken and I did our 12 mile run and it actually felt much better than the first. Maybe this whole marathon thing is a possibility. Saturday night Jamie and Kevin came down from Minnesota to spend the night. We played lazy and just hung out and chatted until around midnight. Ken even managed to pull away from his studying for a bit to spend some time with us. It was so wonderful seeing summertime friends. It’s also great to spend time with people that love competing in and teaching log rolling as much as I do.

Sunday my dad was a SAINT and brought several logs out to the amateur log rolling tournament in Oconomowoc, WI. Jamie, Kevin, my dad, and I all helped run this super fun tournament. All of the Madison kids did absolutely wonderful, and most importantly, had a great time! Jamie, John, Kevin, and I also got some rolling practice in. I’m sore as heck today, but it was well worth it.

Needless to say I was exhausted last night, but I fell asleep smiling about all of the wonderful things I have in my life. A girl couldn’t be luckier.

My Achin' Body!

I'm finally back into the groove! Ken and I are rock solid into our marathon training. We did our first 11 mile run on Saturday! Let me tell you... it was fun, but MAN was I hurting after! Ken led me through a fun loop, which totally soaked us with mud.

Sunday morning I got the grand idea to finally buy my own skateboard and go skateboarding. Bad idea. I don't know if it was the new board or if my legs were still jello from running the day before, but I crashed over, and over, and over, and over again. I think I'm starting to annoy the punk 13 year olds, but they can deal. I went through this same crap with every other sport I started fresh at, so hopefully it will come with time. I just hate being covered in bruises! After skateboarding, I limped to the Nat for Ken's basketball tournament. By the time I got there, somebody had elbowed him and given him a black eye! We made quite the pair. He still played some mean basketball though! BUT, lunch at Laredo's always makes life better. :)

So now I'm back to some more hard core training: running 4 days per week, log rolling 3, lifting 2, and skateboarding 1. And it feels GREAT! Minus the bruises, sore back, tight calves, and jello legs. :)

I hope everybody is doing well, and don't forget to vote for Ace on American Idol!
