Bike, Juice, Canines, and Steve Irwin
Today Ken surprised me with a NEW BIKE! How cool is that? His hobby is making old junky bikes new and ridable. He built me a mountain bike! I've never had one before, so today I had fun biking through large potholes and on and off the curb. :)
Speaking of new things, I finally fell victim to an infomercial. I purchased the Jack LaLane Juice Express Juicer. But, in my own defense, I have wanted a juicer for awhile, and I got this one on e-bay at a really great price. Hopefully it works! Let me know if you have any cool juicing recipes.
On the topic of juice (I have some great segways today!) I need to start eating WAY healthier. After log rolling season ended, it's been a downhill cascade. Thank got I work out a lot, otherwise I would be a BLIMP! So tomorrow out comes the food diary. If you are ever looking for the best way in the world to get your eating in check, record EVERYTHING you eat for one week. It can be a royal pain, but it really makes you think about what you put in your mouth.
The past few weekends have flown by in a huge blur. I've gotten much more involved with the Huntington's Disease Society of America, so I have had the opportunity to travel to all of the local events. So far the Dowell Family and Melissa Worthington have made a HUGE difference in our local HD community. Our next big adventure: “CANINES FOR A CURE” coming up on Saturday, September 23rd. If you have ANY interest in taking your dog for a 2 mile walk or run, this event will be a BLAST. If you don't have a dog, the Dane and Columbia County Humane Societys will be on hand with homeless pups who would love to go for a stroll. This has been such a lazy labor day weekend... and I LOVE it! I got quite a bit of house cleaning and other odd jobs out of the way. Yesterday we finally went to see Pirates 2 and were totally disappointed. Thank god I at least got to look at Orlando Bloom for a few hours, otherwise it would have been a COMPLETE waste! Last night we went over to Peter's and played a mean game of Kinetics. If you haven't seen this play station game... go try it! It could possibly put all personal trainers out of business (highly unlikely) but it is so worth the money. We played most of the combat games, and almost threw up we were so tired! That was followed by hours of jumping on trampolines in the rain. Probably not a bright idea, but Ken and Peter have knack for danger. Today we slept in insanely late, did some cleaning, then went for bike ride. Other than the fact I have to go to work at 6am tomorrow... life is good!
On a sad note, I've been pretty down about the loss of Steve Irwin. This world is already too short on happy, positive, caring people. Now we have lost another. Luckily he was doing what he loved.
