Hello Hello! I hope all had a great Thanksgiving. Mine was AWESOME! Let me tell you, I haven’t had a weekend where all I did was eat and sleep in ages! Plus it was great to be with my family again. My cousins Heather and Amy are getting so old, they are totally different every time I see them! The actual Thanksgiving dinner in Kentucky was a bit different though. People there don’t quite act the same as people in Wisconsin do. But hey, it’s great to meet all different types of people, even those that say things like "Hunker down and git me some corn" or those that don't use utensils to eat. And then of course, after Thanksgiving Heather, Amy, and I did way too much shopping. Let’s just say I think I’m set for clothing this winter. :)

Now for the exciting news (not that Thanksgiving in Kentucky isn’t exciting…)…I have a new kitty!!! I got her on Wednesday from the Dane County Humane Society. I really just went to look, but when I saw her I knew she was the right kitty! If anybody is ever interested in getting a pet, it is best to go through the Humane Society. First off, she was already spayed and had all of her shots. Then I get free cat food and 10% off of all her supplies from Mounds. And to top it all off, I get 50% off her first vet visit! She is SO DARN CUTE too. She looks just like Cleo, but a lot smaller. We figured she is about a year old…and full of energy! She walks around my apartment like she owns the place, and has already decided to scratch up most of the furniture. I guess Mike is going to build her a cat post next week…hopefully we will have some furniture left by then. Next week I’ll get some pictures of her and scan them in. Oh yeah, her name is Kitty…I know, not super original but better than Frank (that’s what Doug calls her).

Tomorrow night Mike and I are leaving for Abilene, Texas. We are going to spend the weekend working privately with coach Don Hood at his house. How cool is that? Hopefully we will both learn a lot. This is my last year pole vaulting and I really don’t want to blow it. So I’ll be missing a few days of school…YES!

I’m off to go climbing at Boulders with the Kinesiology Club! Bye Bye!

Off to Evansville, Indiana for Thanksgiving weekend! I hope everybody has a great one...don't eat too much!!!

Hell week is finally over!!! I had three exams and much to study for last week, but now there are practically no exams until finals! This coming week is just three days of school, then off to Indiana for Thanksgiving! Rumor has it there will be a LOT of food…but that’s what my family does best…eat!

Yesterday I worked at Supreme for a bit in the morning, then Tara and I went to the game with a pole vault recruit. What an exciting game with a crappy turn out. Michigan TOTALLY won by luck. Anyway, maybe I’ve been out of it the past few years, but they were selling “Ann Arbor is a Whore” T-shirts. After the game the guy was still trying to sell them saying, “Forget the score…Ann Arbor’s still a whore!” How funny is that? Then last night I went out with a bunch of the track girls. Haven’t done that in a while; it was good to have fun with them again.

Today I did a whole lot of nothing. Okay, actually I got a lot done. I cleaned my whole apartment…we’re talkin’ mopping, dusting and the whole works. It was pretty gross. Plus my roommate Doug is smelly, so I had to freshen the air somehow to take care of that. :) After spending a fortune on groceries I’ve just been lazy all night. It is SO nice not to have a million things to get done.

Today Mike and I contacted Coach Don Hood about some private coaching. It looks like in a few weeks we get to miss some school and spend a few days in Texas pole vaulting! I need it SO bad. This is my last year, and I really want to do well. Hopefully things work out and we can go. Airfare is really cheap right now, so that will be nice.

I’ve finally gotten a bunch of my fitness pictures from the summer scanned in. Now it’s up to J.R. (no pressure) to get them up here. They should be super cool though!

Alright, bedtime in the land of Shana…goodnight!

Yeah, so I haven't written anything here in a while. But go figure, when I'm really busy and have a major exam to study for, what do I do? Write in the blog!

I got my Black Belt a week ago! How cool is that? I probably still couldn't hurt a fly, but hey, it goes better with the uniform. (kidding) Also, people have to call me Miss Martin now. How cool is that? Okay, actually I don't really like that. Anyway, I'm getting certified to teach cardio karate, then I will start masters team classes, as well as teach cardio.

I'm actually going to be a TA next semester! It's not bad $ either! I will be working with the adapted fitness class, the one I help out in now where we put people with special needs on exercise programs. I will actually get to be a TA! So, maybe it will be a bit dorky, but it will bring in some $ and be rewarding!

Mike and I went camping at Mirror Lake State Park last weekend for our one-year thing. It was so beautiful! The park wasn't huge, so we managed to hike most of the trails in a few hours. We (okay...Mike) made a nice fire and cooked way too much of a yummy dinner. The stars were SO pretty...I asked Mike to look at them and spin around until he puked, but he didn't go for that one. :) Anyway, it was nice during the day, but it got pretty stinkin' cold at night. My mummy bag was nice and warm, but I ran into a bit of a problem...I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. So instead of just going and getting it over with, I tried to sleep. I ended up not sleeping for quite a while, until I finally got up and went. HOLY COLD! The nearest pit toilet was about three blocks away...I was wearing sandals and there was frost on the ground. So that's the one camping bummer...getting out of your warm cozy sleeping bag.

Today I met with the advisor to figure out the rest of my college plans. They are actually going to let me out!!! I have it all figured out so that I will graduate December 2002. I will do my internship at the UW Sports Medicine fitness center this summer, as well as working at Supreme. It is SO COOL to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel...I don't know how much more of this school stuff I can take.

Goodnight!!!
